MoU with IIT Guwahati

After witnessing the demonstrations of the various processes to make polymer from renewable sources, MoU has been signed with IITG for dedicated extensive research to develop the commercial technology to manufacture the biopolymer. CoE-SusPol (Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Polymers) laboratory in IITG is dedicated to this kind of research. Dedication of the team and dedicated resources for the project are the key points to its success.

The world’s largest plastic exhibition, K show gives an update on innovations and inventions in plastic industries worldwide. It was expected to see the concentration of innovations and inventions in the bioplastic industry. I have seen dense crowds in bioplastics halls and booths all the time. We had many fruitful meetings with targeted companies to bring our project to the next level.

Meeting with the delegation of Japanese advisors at IITG, Govt of Gujarat, etc.
Meeting with distinguished officials of Govt. of Gujarat at Gandhinagar along with Japanese Team including Emeritus Prof. Yoshiharu Kimura & IIT Guwahati Professor Dr. Vimal Katiyar for our upcoming project of manufacturing biodegradable polymers. The meeting was dedicated to the review of the biopolymer technology development and handholding of the government with the project.

India’s first international conference and exhibition on bioplastics. Presentations from bioplastic industry leaders gave insights of Indian scenario. Various certifications, government policies, customer awareness were discussed broadly. In addition, challenges to processing, compounding, filler and retail industries were presented including suggestions to overcome and expand this industry in positive direction.
I met 23 processing industries, who converts the bioplastic granules into end products from India, 6 compounding industries from India and worldwide, one biopolymer manufacturer from Thailand in the exhibition area; which depicts that how bioplastic industry is getting developed rapidly in India.

Very much business oriented conference on bioplastics. I had very informative interactions and presentations from the leaders of bioplastic industry worldwide. The presentations from various bioplastic companies, bioplastic research institute, bioplastic news, etc. have highlighted the obstacles and potential of this very specific business. Moreover, how can it be overcome in the future to support this industry. It lasted four days and each day was for a very specific polymer or application like, PLA, PHA, etc.
Open house at Reifenhäuser

We visited the open house of PLA/PBS spun-bond nonwoven line live demonstration at the Reifenhäuser factory. They have developed the technology to manufacture compostable nonwoven fabric from PLA/PBS mixture, where PLA and PBS both are bio-based and compostable polymers. The real feel of the compostable fabric is outstanding, it can be used in various technical textile applications like hygiene, medical, textile, etc. products.
